Yankton Area Progressive Growth (YAPG) is excited to announce the launch of Polco, an innovative engagement platform where community members can directly provide input to the local decision-making process. By using Polco, YAPG is making public participation easier for residents by meeting them where they are. Questions will be posted every couple of weeks to community members on Polco’s app and website, where locals can answer and comment directly on the questions.

YAPG is asking residents for their input on our community’s quality of life. We want to learn more about what community members think about current housing and career development opportunities and work with us to find community solutions.  Additional Polco survey questions over the next several months will focus on topics such as education, entertainment, retail, and more.

“YAPG has been looking for ways to have more community engagement in what we’re doing,” YAPG CEO Nancy Wenande said. “When we’re talking about housing and workforce development issues, it’s great to have input from our community members. We’re excited to engage with our community through the new Polco platform.”

Yankton community members can begin giving input by downloading the Polco app for Android or iOS, or by visiting https://polco.us/ and creating an account. Polco’s platform is available via web, mobile app, email, and any place Polco e-ballots are found online. This service is free to all Yankton County residents and easy to use.

Polco is committed to a strict privacy policy where they only share aggregated de-identified results. Participants’ individual data and votes are never shared.

“Organizations need to work collaboratively to solve community problems and gaining more information directly from the citizens will help us keep our finger on the pulse of Yankton County,” Nancy Wenande shared. “We hope the citizens are willing to take a few minutes to get registered and answer a couple of questions every couple of weeks.  Their input is valuable.”
